When does Roger Federer play next at Wimbledon 2021? Next match details revealed

Roger Federer Wimbledon

After beating Brit Cameron Norrie, Roger Federer goes into the second week of Wimbledon 2021 with growing confidence. His matches may not have been as straight-forward as rival Novak Djokovic’s, but he’s playing well on the grass and only four matches stand between him and a ninth Wimbledon title.

The first of those will be against No.23 seed Lorenzo Sonego in the fourth round. The 26-year old is enjoying his best ever run at SW19 in a great year for Italian tennis – this is the first time since 1955 that two Italian men have made the last 16, with Matteo Berrettini also through.

This won’t be enough to rattle Federer though, whose record at the All England Club even makes Djokovic wince. While grand slam tennis is always unpredictable, it would be a real shock for the eight-time champion to lose this particular match, and a quarter final place feels almost guaranteed.

Read on for all the details of Federer’s next match at Wimbledon.

When does Roger Federer play next at Wimbledon?

Federer continues his bid for a ninth Wimbledon title today, Monday 5th July, going up against No.23 seed Lorenzo Sonego. The match will be played on Centre Court and is likely to start at roughly 5pm.

Federer is attempting to win his 21st grand slam title, to take him out in front of Rafael Nadal in the standings, but he faces a tough draw. If things go to plan for him, he could eventually face second seed Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-final.

The 39-year old Swiss star is also on the other side of the Wimbledon 2021 draw to reigning champion Novak Djokovic – possibly setting up a historic Wimbledon final between the two, which would be a rematch of 2019’s nail-biting showdown.
