Yellowstone season 4 release date: Cast, plot and trailer for Kevin Costner series

Kevin Costner in Yellowstone

Paramount Network have released the Yellowstone season four teaser trailer, and confirmed that the series will air sometime later this autumn.

We’ve also learnt that the series have added a major new recurring character: Jacki Weaver (of Silver Linings Playbook fame) will play Caroline Warner, the CEO of Market Equities.

It’s been a long wait for Yellowstone fans, as the show’s usual release date (Father’s Day weekend) came and went earlier this year with not a whisper from the Dutton clan.

It’s not all bad news though, and star Jefferson White has promised fans that the next run will be “worth the wait” when it finally begins – with a rumoured November release date.

What’s more, the season four teaser trailer confirms that family patriarch John Dutton (Costner) has survived the brutal roadside shooting that occurred last season.

In May, there was a casting call for crowd scenes (which previously could not be filmed due to social distancing) which suggested that filming still hadn’t fully wrapped yet at that stage.

The series follows the Dutton family, whose grip on the family ranch in Yellowstone is constantly under threat, with conflicts arising with the ranch’s bordering areas and with land developers.

At the end of season three, the Dutton family were left in a precarious position, as one-by-one the members were targeted for assassination.

Costner (who you might know from the film Dances with Wolves) plays a sixth-generation ranch owner in the show, but his family’s claim over the land is continually challenged. Family and legacy are key themes in the series, as patriarch John Dutton (Costner) struggles to maintain a grip on the lucrative ranch.

In June 2021, star Jefferson White teased that it would be worth waiting for, writing on Instagram, “Appreciate y’all!! Season 4 is worth the wait, I promise!!”

The message was written as a comment under a post of his character from the official Yellowstone Instagram page – with many of the show’s fans commenting begging for a release date to be announced.

In the US, seasons one, two, and three are available to watch now on the Peacock streaming service.

How can I watch Yellowstone season 4 in the UK?

Yellowstone season one is available to watch on Paramount Network UK and My5. However, the viewing schedule for Yellowstone is further behind in the UK than it is across the pond, so we could be waiting a while for season four. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we have more news.

Both seasons one and two are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video UK.

Yellowstone season 4 cast

Kevin Costner, Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser and Gil Birmingham lead the cast of Yellowstone.
