PS5 stock updates UK: Amazon and Very stock expected this week

where to buy PS5

The PS5 has been out for months now – but with stock running low around the globe, there are still plenty of avid gamers who haven’t got hold of the new console.

There was commiseration for some – and we emphasise some – gamers last week as GAME finally dropped some PS5 stock. But that was all snapped up very quickly, and the retailer no longer has either the Disk or Digital Edition available to buy. It was a similar story at ASDA at the end of last week, too.

Reports suggest that these PS5 stock issues could rumble on well into 2022, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to get your hands on a console in 2021. You just need to act fast, because whenever the consoles make it onto the shelves again, they are hoovered up almost as quickly as they arrived. Seriously, PlayStation’s latest console is practically worth its own weight in gold right now (with matters certainly not being helped by the Ever Given incident in the Suez Canal in March).

However, things have definitely picked up this week with more consoles being available in the last seven days alone than in the month previous. And this trend is set to continue with stock expected to go live at John Lewis and Very in the coming days, plus the welcome addition of new red and black PS5 controllers being released.

On top of that, a stock drop has been predicted at Amazon this week, with online rumours forecasting any point between the 17th and 19th May. Our advice, as ever though, is to take those timings with a pinch of salt, and keep as close an eye as you can on all those retailer’s product pages.

If you’re a BT customer, you may also want to consider registering interest for the PS5 on the BT shop. The phone network has had regular stock drops, and because the consoles are only available to BT customers, they haven’t been selling out at the breakneck speed we’ve seen elsewhere.

And, if you’re fed up of waiting in virtual lines, you might like a new initiative from Currys. The retailer recently launched its PS5 Priority Pass raffle to try and level the playing field a little more – your pass will be valid for 72 hours and if you’re lucky enough to be selected, you can buy a PS5 from your local Currys PC World store.

Winners of this VIP raffle have already started getting emails so we suggest getting involved as soon as possible for a chance to win. We don’t know how long this brilliant deal will be available.

You can check stock levels below:

So far this year, we have also seen stock in the US appear at Target but only at stores in certain locations and they sold out as fast as ever, followed by sell-out drops at Walmart. We’ve also seen PS5 consoles appear at Best Buy and GameStop, and – in better news – stock didn’t disappear within a few seconds mainly due to changes to the ordering process to stop bots securing consoles.

It seems like retailers are now doing their best to make the buying process as fair as possible and to stop their sites crashing. However, that does now mean that you’ll probably have to wait in a virtual line.

We’re checking retailers regularly to bring you the best PS5 stock links so you have a chance to buy a console if you haven’t already. And, if you have got the console we also have links to PS5 accessories and PS5 games.

Where to buy PS5: UK and US stock updates

Remember there are two consoles, the standard edition and the digital; the PS5 Digital Edition doesn’t have a disc drive to play physical copies of the games.

We can’t guarantee you’ll get a console but check the links below for the latest stock. At some retailers you can also sign up to the mailing lists for further updates.

Buy PS5 USA

Unfortunately, PS5 stock issues are a global problem. However, remember the PS5 isn’t geo-locked so you can buy from any of the retailers below and still play your UK games. We’ll keep track and update you with the latest deals, but we expect they’ll be snapped up extremely quickly.

When will the PS5 be back in stock in the UK?

Since PS5 pre-orders went live in September last year, gamers have been grappling to get their hands on the Sony console. Both the Disk and Digital Editions of the PS5 console have been plagued with stock issues and over half a year later, the console is sold out across UK retailers.

When there is stock, retailers sell out within minutes of going live. There are even Twitter accounts such as PS5 Stock Alert UK that inform gamers of when new stock might be released to give them a chance in the world of crashing websites and virtual queues.

We don’t yet know how long this misery will continue on for but Sony is telling customers to expect the stock issues into the summer months at least. With additional delays caused by the Ever Given ship incident, it is going to be a tough few months for those still searching for a PS5 console.

Can I get a PS5 in-store?

As the lockdown begins to ease in the UK, ‘non-essential’ stores including the likes of Currys PC World, John Lewis, Argos and GAME have re-opened.

Some retailers such as Argos are making the console available via Click and Collect so you can order online and collect it from your local store. Click and Collect may not be an option for all retailers or stores though so we suggest checking with your local store for details on how it is working in your area.

There’s no news yet on how many consoles will be available in-store or how readily available they will be.

However, there is hope that if PS5 stock is sold in stores, it will ease the pressure on online retailers. In turn, this should mean fewer technical issues, no crashing websites and shorter virtual queues.

Where can you buy a PS5 in the UK?

We’ll update you as more stores get stock and when it becomes available. Most retailers say they are “working tirelessly to get more stock”. We aim to check this regularly, but it’s still worth checking the below to see if stock has come back in:

Amazon

Amazon has consistently being putting PS5 stock live twice a month since the beginning of 2021. For most of these drops, both the Disk and Digital Editions of the console have been available.

There haven’t been any bundles available so far and PS5 consoles sell out in minutes each time they go live. More stock is expected in the next week or so though so we wouldn’t give up just yet. In the past, adding the console to your Wishlist in advance has been a good way of bagging one.

Currys PC World

Currys has been a little quiet on the stock drop front in the last couple of months. However, they recently launched a PS5 VIP raffle that gives you the chance to win a unique PS5 buying code that you can use at a local Currys store.

For those who aren’t lucky enough to win, Currys is still releasing stock sporadically with a virtual queuing system in place.

Very

Over the last few months, Very has proven itself to be a reliable source of PS5 consoles, games and accessories. In March, stock drops happened every other week. There have been cases of stock selling out in less than 10 minutes though so this is another retailer you’ll want to act fast with.

Smyths Toys

Another great source of PS5 consoles and accessories. Along with having a great stock level of PS5 accessories, Smyths has been consistently releasing consoles twice a month. As expected, stock sells out in under half an hour but there’s always a good balance of Disk and Digital Editions of the PS5.

John Lewis

A good option for the early birds among us because John Lewis loves to release PS5 stock as early as 6am. The retailer may not be your first port of call for gaming accessories and consoles but John Lewis hasn’t had the same technical errors seen with the likes of ShopTo, Smyths and Currys.

AO

AO is another retailer to keep an eye on. The stock drops tend to be small and sell out fast, but that’s not necessarily anything new. New stock tends to be released once a month and lunchtime or mid-afternoon drops are not uncommon.

PS5 Accessories

Despite all the troubles with the PS5 console, there’s generally been good availability when it comes to the PS5 accessories. Naturally the DualSense Controller and charging station are the most popular, but there’s also various other accessories on offer including the Pulse 3D headset and Media Remote.

You could go all out when it comes to PS5 accessories and games, but don’t forget a lot of PS4 games are still work – Sony confirmed the PS5 backwards compatibility.

DualSense Controller

As to be expected, the PS5 DualSense Controller has also been pretty popular. However, retailers have done a good job at keeping it in stock. Features include a built-in microphone, 3.5mm jack for a headset, a motion sensor and dual actuators that replace traditional rumble motors to provide vibrations and feedback as you play.

Available from these retailers:

DualSense Charging Station

Another incredibly popular accessory, but this one has had some stock issues. The DualSense Charging Station has been in and out of stock since the PS5 accessories were released. If you’re tempted to buy one, we suggest snatching it up while you have the chance. The charging station can charge up to two wireless controllers at once and do it has fast as your PS5 console would.

HD Camera

Featuring a dual wide-angle lenses, the PS5 HD camera captures in full-HD. A great accessory if you want to record yourself and your gameplay, with help from the your DualSense Controller’s create button. There’s a built-in adjustable stand to help get the shot just right and is smaller enough to fit below or above the TV.

PS5 Media Remote

With a built-in IR transmitter, the PS5 Media Remote allows you to adjust the volume and power settings of compatible TVs, scroll through menus and play/pause entertainment with ease. Available at a range of retailers including AO, Very and Amazon.

Pulse 3D Headset

This is one of the few PS5 accessories still having some stock issues. However, it is available at a range of retailers, so be patient. The Pulse 3D Wireless Headset has two built-in microphones and noise-cancellation to tune out distractions. With up to 12 hours of battery life, having to charge mid-way through a game shouldn’t be an issue either.

How to get a PS5: top tips

1. Bookmark our page and check back for stock

We keep this page updated and have the main retailers that have confirmed restock times. This should save you time because you don’t have to trawl the web yourself.

2. Make sure you are checking just before any restock time

Most retailers only have PS5 stock for a maximum of 30 minutes. We’ll list confirmed times when we get them, just click through and get ready as when that stock appears it’ll be gone as fast as you can say ‘I want a PS5’.

3. Have your payment details ready and the money in your account

When the console was first released some people reported struggles to have their console confirmed, or message cropping up that it was checking payment. A console is not confirmed until you’ve paid so make sure you remove all barriers by having the money in the account you’re using and the details ready to hand.

4. Move fast

This may seem obvious but there’s no pondering. If you know you want the PS5, decide which version, then get checking those links! As fast as stock appears it disappears.

5. Don’t worry

If you don’t get a console straight away keep checking back. Yes, it’s hard to get one right now, but there’s always the next restock! Retailers are dropping stock almost every week now so there are plenty of chance to get your hands on a console – don’t give up.

How can you tell which retailers will have PS5 stock?

Keeping track of which retailers have PS5 consoles and accessories in stock is a challenge. Recent stock drops have sold out in minutes, barely giving most of a chance to pull the website.

In order to make sure you’re ahead of the curve and are ready and waiting for the drop, we have a team of experts dedicated to scrolling the web for intel.

It’s far from an exact science but we collate information from the retailers, along with sources such as Stock Informer, social media and Sony’s own team to make sure our updates are accurate and reliable. After all, no one wants to be sat endlessly refreshing a page for a stock drop that never comes.

These updates are done daily to find the latest dates and times that retailer’s are due to drop stock. After half a year of stock issues, many retailers have got into patterns with their stock drops and this can help us predict when more PS5 stock will be available.

We keep all our links updated too so you can click straight through to the product page because those extra seconds are precious when you’re after PS5 stock.

How much does PS5 cost?

The PS5 price is £449 in the UK – that’s the same as Xbox Series X. There is the cheaper PS5 Digital Edition at £359.99 (Xbox Series S is cheaper). The digital console has the same specs as the standard PS5, it just doesn’t have the physical drive.

PlayStation 4 deals

Maybe you are yet to join the PlayStation world and are considering investing in an earlier console rather than the brand spanking (and more expensive) new one. If so, here are some deals and bundles for the PlayStation 4 and Pro that you may be interested in.

If you know it’s a bundle you’re after, Currys has one of the biggest selections on offer which include games such as God of War and The Last of Us Part II.
