How to watch Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Oprah interview in the UK

Meghan and Harry

Despite stepping back as senior members of the Royal Family over a year ago, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been dominating headlines all week ahead of their “intimate” interview with talk show legend Oprah Winfrey, which will finally be broadcast today.

The 90-minute chat airs this morning in the US and while UK viewers will have to wait an extra day until Oprah with Meghan & Harry arrives on ITV, the interview is set to be one of the biggest TV events of the year, with popular drama Unforgotten getting bumped to Tuesday night to make room in the schedule.

A previous teaser clip saw Oprah promise that “no subject is off limits” in the wide-ranging interview – and in a first-look shared by CBS earlier this week, we see the Duchess of Sussex say that she doesn’t know how the Royal Family could expect the couple to be silent after all this time “if there is an active role that the firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us”.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Oprah interview in the UK.

In the US, the programme will air on CBS from 8pm Eastern Time and ITV has announced that it has picked up the rights to broadcast the interview in the UK.

The interview – Oprah with Meghan and Harry – will air for UK viewers on Monday 8th March at 9pm on ITV.

What will the interview cover?

The interview has been described by CBS as “wide-ranging” and an “intimate conversation” and looks set to cover a plethora of topics.

Three clips have revealed more details on what the pair will discuss. In the first, Winfrey reveals that there is “no subject that is off-limits”.

The second clip also sees Harry discuss how Princess Diana’s death impacted their decision to “leave” the Royal family.

While in the third, shared earlier this week by CBS, Meghan talks about speaking to the press after leaving the Royal Family, saying: “I don’t know how they could expect that after all of this time, we would still just be silent if there is an active role that the firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us.”

She adds: “And if that comes at risk of losing things, there’s a lot that’s been lost already.”

According to a statement from the network, it the interview will also include, “everything from stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how [Meghan] is handling life under intense public pressure”.

The statement continues: “Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family.”
