California and federal officials were in the midst of an intense effort Thursday to retrace the movements of a northern California woman believed to be the first person in the US to contract the highly contagious coronavirus with no known connection to travel abroad or other known causes.
Health officials confronted tough questions about why there was a four-day delay in screening the woman woman despite her doctors’ early calls to do so, and have since expanded their criteria for who should get tested.
