It’s that time again – when ten semi-famous people are rounded up and dumped in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.
Over the course of two weeks, the contestants will have to learn how to fend for themselves – having access to only a limited amount of water, some basic tools, and the training necessary to find their own food and shelter.
The past two series have featured stars such as Dom Joly, Ollie Locke and Celebrity Big Brother contestant Ryan Thomas who met girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh during his stint on last year’s show.

Roxanne Pallett
Who is Roxanne Pallett?
Roxanne Pallett used to be best known for her three-year stint on ITV soap Emmerdale, where she played Jo Stiles. Recently however, her time on the 2018 series of Celebrity Big Brother has made her a lightning rod for controversy: with Pallett subsequently apologising for her account of a physical assault by fellow housemate Ryan Thomas. The reaction to the incident has put Pallett at the centre of a media storm, with two TV appearances in which she expressed regret for her behaviour.
Eric Roberts
Who is Eric Roberts?
You’re most likely to recognise Eric Roberts from one of the 500 screen credits that he has amassed over a 40-year career. The most recent examples include his role as mobster Maroni in 2008’s The Dark Knight, and a supporting role as a wealthy real estate developer in Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2014 film Inherent Vice. He has also appeared on NBC drama Heroes and USA’s legal drama Suits.
And if you’re a big Doctor Who fan, then you’ll definitely recognise Roberts from his portrayal as the Master in the 1996 TV movie.
Martin Kemp
Who is Martin Kemp?
There are two tiers to Martin Kemp’s fame. The first was his role as a bassist in 80s New Romantic band Spandau Ballet, and the group’s success with songs such as Gold – gold! – and True. His second wave of fame came in the 90s, when he and his brother Gary (also a member of Spandau Ballet) turned their attention to acting. After both starring in a film based on the Kray twins, Martin found success with his role as villain Steve Owen in soap EastEnders. In 2002, after a car chase with arch-nemesis Phil Mitchell, Steve was killed off.
Pete Wicks
Who is Pete Wicks?
Pete Wicks is a 29-year-old ex-cast member of The Only Way is Essex, where he was famed for his turbulent on-off relationship with fellow star Megan McKenna. This included a sexting scandal, in which Wicks was revealed to be texting an ex behind Megan’s back. Because of his long hair and tattoos, he has adopted the nickname The Essex Pirate.
Paris Lees
Who is Paris Lees?
Paris Lees has made a name for herself as a journalist, presenter and transgender rights activist. Her notable achievements include being the first trans woman presenter on Radio 1 and Channel 4, and being the first trans cover girl of lesbian magazine Diva. She has written for various publications on trans issues and even appeared as herself in a 2014 episode of Hollyoaks. She was heavily rumoured to be taking part in the current series of Celebrity Big Brother.
James Cracknell
Who is James Cracknell?
James Cracknell is an Olympic rower who has won two gold medals for Britain; one at the 2000 Sydney games, and a second at the 2004 Athens games. He has also won several World Rowing Championships, and has presented sports programmes on ITV and Channel 4. In 2013 he stood as a Conservative Party candidate for South West England and Gibraltar in the European Parliament election of 2014, but failed to get elected.
Anthony Ogogo
Who is Anthony Ogogo?
Anthony Ogogo’s main career is boxing. He has competed in various competitions and won a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, and a bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. But he has also fashioned a nifty side-career appearing on a range of reality TV shows. These include Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack in 2008, ITV’s diving show Splash! in 2013, and a stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015. He was eliminated in the third week of the competition.
Montana Brown
Who is Montana Brown?
Islands full of beautiful people fighting over scraps won’t be much of a shock for Montana Brown, who made her name on the 2017 series of Love Island. The 22-year-old, from Hertfordshire, failed to find love in her first few weeks on the ITV2 reality show, but that all changed once she met the hunky Alex Beattie. Their romance wasn’t to last beyond the cameras, however, with the couple splitting just days after leaving the villa.
Jo Wood
Who is Jo Wood?
Jo Wood is the former wife of Ronnie Wood, guitarist with the Rolling Stones. The couple met in 1977, married in 1985, and were together for 24 years before divorcing in 2009. In the same year, she appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, partnering with Brendan Cole before being eliminated in the show’s sixth week. She has since shown up on Celebrity MasterChef and First Dates.
Saleyha Ahsan
Who is Saleyha Ahsan?
Saleyha Ahsan’s day job is working as an A&E doctor at Bangor hospital in North Wales. She has also served as a humanitarian doctor in conflict zones, and works as a freelance filmmaker reporting on stories involving healthcare in the UK and around the world; including a film on Syria she made for Panorama. Her most notable TV appearance so far has been on BBC2’s Trust Me I’m a Doctor, where Ahsan shares her experience in order to enlighten viewers on the realities of health and the NHS.
