“I feel so privileged and excited to be part of my favourite show on TV,” said Piper. “I already know how much of an amazing experience it will be for me and I can’t wait to show my girls some of my new dance moves. I’m nervous to put on my dancing shoes but can’t wait to learn a new skill and have the Strictly tan and makeover!”
In 2008, Piper was the victim of an acid attack arranged by an ex boyfriend, which severely damaged her face and blinded her in one eye. She told her story in a Channel 4 Cutting Edge documentary, Katie: My Beautiful Face, and has since set up The Katie Piper Foundation, whose mission statement is “a world where scars do not limit a person’s function, social inclusion or sense of well being”.
