This year’s competition in Indonesia promises many familiar sports – and some that are rather less well-known
The 2018 Asian Games begin on Saturday in Jakarta with a busy schedule of 40 events that go some way to representing the diversity that exists in the world’s biggest continent. Alongside the usual Olympic sports well-known to a global audience, medals will also be handed out for climbing and skateboarding – which will be included in the Olympics for the first time in 2020 – and other, perhaps less familiar disciplines.
